Greece: A PENINSULA of RUGGED Terrain

Today in class we discussed several vocabulary words related to ancient Greece.

The photograph above highlights the difference between rugged mountains and gently rolling hills.

If you were going to spend a day walking in the wilderness, would you prefer the rugged terrain on the left or the gentle terrain on the right?  Why?

We also discussed peninsulas.

The large peninsula on which Greece is located is called the Aegean PeninsulaThere are many smaller peninsulas within Greece, including the Peloponnesian Peninsula (where Sparta is located).

Virginia is not itself a peninsula, but we discussed the large number of peninsulas that extend from the east coast of Virginia into the Chesapeake Bay.

Would you like to live on a peninsula? Why or why not?

Can you identify the four famous peninsulas in the photographs above?
