Excerpts From Your Project Drafts

Many of you are making great progress on your Battle of the Ancient Civilizations projects.

Remember to incorporate lots of details and vocabulary from the reading, in order to demonstrate what you've learned about ancient Egypt and China.

Here are some excerpts from the drafts I reviewed today...

From Isabella C.'s short story about the Great Wall

This is a story about Sun and Wen, when they helped build the Great Wall of China.

“Do you smell something, Wen?” Sun questions.

“Yeah. I smell history. Do you?” Wen replies.

“I smell history too! Now let's tell our story about how we built the Great Wall of China.”

We blew up mountains 

With fire and water

To help our irrigation

With our strict leaders

We made China a great civilization

And from Bertie's lecture ranking the "Top 5 Pharaohs" in ancient Egypt

The fourth best pharaoh in ancient Egypt was King Tut. 

Some of you may argue with me on this, but you have to understand that Tut didn’t actually do much of anything important as pharaoh. 

The reason he is even on my list is because of the contributions to today's knowledge about ancient Egypt. 

3,000 artifacts were found in Tut's tomb. Howard Carter discovered the tomb in 1922. His tomb is a complex system of hallways. The artifacts revealed some things about Egyptian life.
