Constantinople

Today I introduced our next unit: the Middle Ages.

The time period known as the Middle Ages lasted approximately 1,000 years, from circa 400 AD (when the Roman Empire collapsed) until circa 1400 AD (at which time they ended, with the beginning of the Renaissance).

We also discussed the barbarian invasions of the Roman Empire.

Here's a map showing the particular "points-of-attack" of various barbarian tribes, including the Goths, Vandals, and Huns:


Musical Mondays: I talked about the importance of Constantinople during the Middle Ages, and we listened to "Istanbul (not Constantinople)" by They Might be Giants.
